’ll be posting an update on what has happened on the race but right now I wanted to tell everyone about just how much the race has impacted my life and where I am now compared to when I left.

I left around January 3rd and I had no idea what to expect. I came from a very reformed background which placed a lot of emphasis on theology, and a strict knowledge of the word. Because I grew up in that background and also went to a school which emphasized knowledge, theology, and apologetics I often put the spiritual on the back burner. I never really understood the gifts of the Lord, believed in healing, or had seen people being changed right in front of me. The spiritual aspect of Christianity had always seemed foreign to me and at times I didn’t think that modern day Christians carried the same power that the original apostles and disciples did. The start of the race was kinda wack for me because of this. Many people had this very spiritual connection with God while I just didn’t understand it and sometimes even uncomfortable with it. However as I ran the race I had to have more and more encounters with the spiritual, and realized how important it was. I started to dive more into intercession, pray for healings and divine appointments. I started to trust God more as someone who lives inside of me and through me. Now I realize that I had the answers, belief, knowledge and theology down but I was missing on that personal connection. I never intentionally tried to hear God’s voice. But the race has completely changed me. I now realize that the spiritual goes right along with knowledge. I can’t have knowledge without the spirit. I have to be filled with God’s spirit to go out and talk to people, or else, am I really portraying God or being his disciple? So now I choose to walk in the spirit as well as knowledge.
